It is human nature to seek others in times of despair. Along with water, food, and air, community is a necessity for survival. Communities provide security, communication, and unique skills of multiple persons that combine to prove essential for long term survival.

Approximately several dozen asteroids fly by the earth every year.
In 2019 there were 409 natural disasters across the world.
America has only been at peace for 21 years since its existence.
‘‘... a significant attack on the grid could cause serious damage in the U.S.’’

There are many scenarios that could cause the collapse of our society as we know it. This collapse would inhibit accessible food, water, power, and security. These are the fears that some people face everyday. To conquer their fears, these people do whatever they can to secure their survival. You may know these people as Doomsday Preppers, or for short, Preppers. Preppers stock everyday consumables and supplies, enact escape routines to bug-out locations, and practice survival skills. Most days and money is spent in preparation for a catastrophic event that will significantly alter their way of life. In order to maintain one's way of life, Preppers will do almost anything to ensure the safety of their family.

Among other vulnerabilities the main problem every Prepper faces is the means to establish a community after the catastrophic event. Doomsday shelters that are vaults or permanent above ground structures lack the capability to efficiently move, and physically expand. To safely enhance a faction the permanent structures need the ability to adapt to the new environment. My research drives me to believe this permanence will separate the time people will survive after a doomsday event. To provide people with a plan incase of an emergency my project combines the necessities of ‘Doomsday Preppers’ with architecture in an attempt to merge communities in a crisis where survival may turn into an everyday issue.
